As you said this is not an all inclusive blog, so unless you are going for a specific design look using grout my suggestion is match the grout to the color of the tile ( by squinting your eyes til the grout disappears sitting next to the tile, also works trying to match paint color to an other material or existing paint you dont want to change). The charcoal ties the whole kitchen together. The white just makes it look like nothingmight as well have just painted the backsplash white. Weve already been through the ringer picking cabinet pulls, and a debacle over the non-feature outer lying countertop (which had to be re-picked the week of fabrication when we found out what we picked was triple the budget!). The charcoal looks like filthy grout. Its easiest if grout matches your backsplash tile. It does look good when done right but if its not perfect will always look not perfect and as a buyer I would notice this. It was huge in the 90s and in the right modern space has always been classic, but different versions of it in various finishes are starting to come back and we are into it. I vote for spending quite a bit of political capital in trying the delorean grey. That is the exact picture that I found that made me not like the charcoal way too busy. It looks clean and classier. Again, it is a very specific look which makes it a little less timeless than the other two, but when done well it can work and brings a graphic element to the space. A good one will give you a straight answer. The dark grout creates prominent lines and grids that dont mesh well with the other dark lines in the view (cabinet edges, etc.).
